Ickleford Squash Club were delighted to receive a recent grant of £274 from Rand’s Educational Foundation. The grant will be used to replace equipment used during Junior Squash training sessions. Some of their equipment is old and damaged, so the money will be used to replace rackets, safety glasses and squash balls.

The squash club runs two junior squash training sessions each Wednesday – one for beginners and the other for more advanced players. Juniors aged 10 to 16 years can take part free of charge.

They also have one junior team competing in the Hertfordshire junior inter-club leagues and actively encourage players to take part in local junior squash tournaments.

The Rand’s Educational Foundation was delighted to contribute towards the new defibrillator at Holwell Village Hall. This is available for everyone to use. If you find yourself needing to use it, please call 999 for assistance and the code to unlock it.

The deadline for receipt of applications for Rand’s Educational Foundation grant is Friday 17th January 2025. Stondon Stompers have used a recent grant from the Rand’s Educational Foundation to change the fences in part of their garden and take out a big tree.  They have also purchased a bench and mud kitchen for their children.
They thanked the Foundation so much for this grant as it has been amazing helping Stondon Stompers.

It’s now time to apply for a grant if you received a grant from Rand’s Educational Foundation for the last academic year and have passed the year or you have just secured a place at Sixth Form, College or University.

At a recent meeting, Rand’s Educational Foundation was delighted to award annual grants to support people under 25 in the areas of Holwell, Ickleford, Pirton and Stondon.

• £17,710 to Pre-Schools and Schools
• £9,233.93 to Organisations

The Foundation has also committed a grant of £12,500 towards a new Pavilion at Pirton Recreation Ground. The Trustees are thrilled to be able to support this worthwhile project and wish Pirton every success in achieving this in the coming years.

Pirton Youth Club thank The Rand’s Educational Foundation for the very generous donation. They have used it to buy some up to date games for their Play Station and some outdoor equipment for the summer term, including some water pistols and reusable water balloons for our end of term water fight!

They have also purchased a fire pit which they have used to cook hot dogs and Smores to warm everyone up after they got soaked! It was very popular and they are looking forward to using it again for Bonfire Night and at other points throughout the year.

Some of the money also went towards a trip to Mr Mulligans Crazy Golf in Stevenage. This was a great night with some very competitive young people all trying to beat their friends’ scores!
