Rand’s Educational Foundation provides educational and recreational grants for young people under the age of 25 in the villages of Ickleford, Holwell, Pirton and Stondon.
We support early years learning through annual grants for all children enrolled at preschools within our catchment, including Ickleford, Pirton and Stondon
The primary and lower schools in Ickleford, Pirton and Stondon automatically receive annual grants for the children on their roll
All students living within the Rand’s catchment area studying or training beyond GCSE at a local school or college may apply for an annual grant to help towards their studies
Annual grants are available for all young people within our catchment who are studying higher education courses at universities and colleges
Every year, Rand’s awards grants to voluntary organisations within our catchment area who provide opportunities for young people, including sport, music and recreational activities
Rand’s Educational Foundation supports young people under the age of 25 in Ickleford, Holwell, Pirton and Stondon. We offer a range of financial support through the award of grants to individuals, educational establishments and voluntary organisations.
Two pre-schools within our catchment area are currently awarded grants depending on the numbers of children attending. These are paid annually with the funds usually allocated to the purchase of new games, toys and creative materials.
Primary and pre-schools within our catchment area benefit from automatic annual grants based on the total number of students enrolled at the school. The funds are distributed annually and the school may allocate resource where it is required.
We also offer financial awards to young people living within our catchment area who are in full time education and training in sixth form, further education colleges and Universities. Applying for these awards is quick and simple and provides help with the extra cost of studying.
Students enrolled in higher education courses at universities and colleges may apply for a generous award to give them a little extra help whilst studying. These are available annually to students whose home address is within our defined catchment area.
We welcome speculative applications from individuals who are committed to excellence in their chosen field, be that music, dance, creative arts, sport or recreation, including World Challenge expeditions.
Additional funding is sometimes vital to voluntary organisations and Rand’s encourages applications from any organisation within its catchment area that engages young people. Awards are made to support sports clubs, scouts, cubs and guides amongst many others.

Thank you so much for your contribution towards my trip to Cambodia. I had an amazing time and am so grateful that I got to experience it all. While in Cambodia we did a range of activities from exploring the cities and learning all about the history of the country to hiking through the jungle and volunteering at an elephant sanctuary.
Although it is so difficult to choose, my favourite part of the trip was the hike as it was challenging but also such an amazing experience and it felt so rewarding once we arrived home. For the hike we spent three days in the Cambodian jungle, spending two nights in hammocks and carrying all our own equipment and supplies. Each day we walked around 10 miles through a range of terrains and weather.
Another part of the expedition that I really enjoyed was when we were exploring the cities especially Siem Reap as that is when we went to Angkor Wat for sunrise and it was so beautiful to see as well as many of the other temples in the areas nearby. While in the capital Phnom Penh, we learnt all about the Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot and the many tragedies that occurred during this awful period for Cambodia. It was very moving being shown around a former prison (that was originally a school) by someone who was once a prisoner there.

We thank Rand’s Educational Foundation for the grant awarded in 2024. This was used to change the fences in part of our garden and take out a big tree. We have also purchased a bench and mud kitchen for our children. Thank you so much for this money, it has been amazing in helping Stondon Stompers
In July 2023, I went on a World Challenge Trip to Morocco along with nine other students from The Priory School, Hitchin. I had been looking forward to this for a long time and spent many months raising money for the cost if the Trip.
The Rand’s Educational Foundation was kind enough to give me a generous Grant to help with my fundraising and this short report is to describe what a fantastic and worthwhile trip it was.
Overall, it was an incredible experience and one I will never forget. I made so many wonderful memories with some of my closest friends and I am so glad I got the opportunity to go on the trip. I am also extremely thankful to the Rand’s Educational Foundation for their grant which made a big difference to my fundraising. I will never forget it.
